How can I use English in my life?
Think of a time when you were at a local pharmacy and a tourist needed help filling out a prescription. The pharmacist and the tourist simply couldn't understand each other. English can save the day. English can help a tourist recover from an illness or feel more comfortable.

Now think about a time when you were traveling abroad and couldn't speak the local language. Have you ever done this before? It can be a little scary. You may need to quickly find a specific bus stop or the nearest bathroom! Fortunately, many people around the world speak English, so a little English can solve your problems abroad, no matter what country you are visiting.

One day in the future, you may go to an interview with a large corporation and discover that your interviewer is a native English speaker. Even if they want to speak their native language at the beginning, their hard work of learning English, the international language of business, is about to pay off. Talk to them in English to demonstrate your skills, and they will see that you can be a very valuable employee.

English is only the third language spoken by native speakers. However, when you count all people who speak English as a second, third, or fourth language, then English is by far the most widely spoken language in the entire world!

English is really everywhere, so you will be able to communicate with native speakers and EFL (English as a Foreign Language) speakers all over this vast planet. You help other people, connect with a wide variety of people, and open up all kinds of life at the door.

That's great, isn't it? Hopefully this will give you some motivation to learn English today. Now read on! Now let's talk about all the most important reasons why you should learn English. Once you read them, you'll stay motivated for the rest of your life!

10 reasons why Learning English is the Best Decision You've Ever Made
1. you will find that English is easy to learn
Most people think that learning a language is very difficult.

In many cases, it is easier for some people to learn English because English is related to their native language. For example, for people in Europe who are learning English, they believe that English is closely related to their languages. German is very close to English. The French language was strongly influenced by English. Also, native English speakers can be found nearby in the UK! They can easily travel to practice, and they are more likely to encounter English speakers in their home countries.

For people who live in different parts of the world and speak languages other than English, English can seem very strange, confusing, and frustrating.

However, there is something important that makes English very easy for everyone:

Availability of resources. Because English is such a common language and is found all over the world, the resources you can use to learn English are endless. It's easy to teach you English because there are tons of resources on the internet for free. Sometimes you will have to pay a little to take an online English course or access another resource, but it often costs money.

So, get started! Watch English cartoons or comedies on YouTube, Netflix, Hulu or other English TV sites for free.

Are you worried that you don't understand enough of these English resources?

This is exactly the problem that FluentU solves.

FluentU shoots real-life videos, such as music videos, movie trailers, news, and inspirational conversations, and turns them into personalized language learning lessons.

Each video comes with interactive subtitles. Tap on any word for instant definition, grammatical information, memorable images, and examples. There are also Fun flashcards and quizzes embedded in each video.

As you watch, FluentU remembers what you learned and offers you more videos and examples based on that information.

In this way, you naturally learn a new vocabulary by absorbing English as native speakers use it. Plus, you can practice anytime, anywhere with the FluentU mobile apps for iOS and Android.

For additional personalized English resources, you can even go online to hire a native English speaker to communicate and learn via Skype.

English is everywhere. Take advantage of this fact!

2. You can find more opportunities to work with
Many large companies around the world require their employees to speak English. In some cases, these companies require their employees to use only English.

As the world becomes more global (better connected), it is natural that large companies want and need more communication. At this time, everyone is trying to learn and communicate with English. English is becoming a common language that people from different countries and cultures can use to communicate with each other.

For example, imagine that an entrepreneur from Israel who speaks English and Hebrew wants to do business with a person from South Africa who speaks English and African. Even though they both started learning English as a second language in elementary school, they can use English to communicate with each other!

As Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani told CNN, " If you want to succeed in other countries, you need to internationalize your headquarters.Since people all over the world know English and use it to communicate with everyone else, it is important that employees also know English. English is an important part of this internationalization process.

You need more than just English to work in American, Australian, and British companies. From my own experience of teaching English in Korea, many students have come to me for help in the necessary English language interviews at Samsung, LG, and other major Korean companies.

By learning English, you can be well prepared for interviews with major international companies. And thankfully, there are plenty of resources out there to help you practice for your English interview.

Not to mention the fact that English is an excellent choice for a career with travel, tourism and hospitality.

3. You can be better educated
Not only does the knowledge of a foreign language expand your mental abilities, but you can use your knowledge of English to learn more and more things about the world.

It's relatively easy to take an English lesson these days. Whether you attend this class online, on Skype, or in class, there are many options.

But here's a new idea for you: Have you ever thought about trying to take a class on a particular topic in English?

Imagine everything you could learn by taking an American history class from an American, a math class from an Australian, or an English literature class from a British teacher.

This type of class, taught entirely in English, will allow you to learn about culture, intonation, body language, vocabulary, and jargon while studying an interesting topic such as history, math, or something else that you personally enjoy learning.

In addition, there are many great works of literature, science, history, and social science that were written in English in the first place. Don't lose anything by trying to read the translation. Instead, it will approach the heart (the main idea) of what the writer is trying to say by reading the original letter in English.

4. You can easily travel anywhere in the world
I am a native English speaker and have traveled to many places around the world. Communication has almost never been a problem for me, because people all over the world speak English. I could speak English in all the countries I visited. Although learning a few words in the local language is always a good idea, you are polite and show respect, English will help you with the details of the trip.

Not only will it make travel easier, but English will also allow you to learn more about global trends, culture, and social issues. This will give you a deeper understanding of people's different views on life.

You'll be able to connect with people who don't speak your native language, and you'll be able to consume thousands more sources of news, blogs, books, and songs.

Knowing English will allow you to become a part of the global conversation!

6. You will learn about the culture
Language and culture cannot be separated. Language is culture, and culture is language. Simply put, knowledge of the English language will give you a better understanding of the people living in English speaking countries. Knowledge of the English language gives you more information about how people think, live and work.

If you don't know the culture of English-speaking countries, it can lead to misunderstandings about what people say in English.

It is not enough just to know the basic words and phrases. To communicate well in English, you need to know things like tone, body language, and facial expressions. You might think that an English speaker is rude, rude, or dismissive when they are not!

If you understand what words or expressions are acceptable and unacceptable in English-speaking cultures, it can prevent a cultural misunderstanding with your English-speaking friends and colleagues.

7. You can improve your understanding of science
English is the language of science.

If you want to study, publish, or speak authoritatively in the sciences, you must learn English.

Pharmacists, engineers, and doctors all over the world should always study English along with other subjects at university. In most cases, your other class subjects are taught in English or come with a textbook in English. Most medical schools in America require English as part of their courses. This is also happening in other countries.

Scientific research is mostly published in English, and most research abstracts (research summaries) are written in English for international scholars to read.

Getting a jump start in learning English can give you an edge in Medical school, help you get a degree in biology, or can give you the tools you need to study at one of the world's top universities for science.

8. you can meet a lot of people
worth it. Maybe getting a great, romantic date is all the motivation you need.

I got it!

Well, you'll be happy to know that English will increase the number of people you could date. Try to meet people who speak English on a dating site, via Facebook, or another social media site.

Native English speakers tend to be very understanding when talking to people who are learning English, and they have a lot of patience. Don't worry if your English skills aren't perfect yet. You are already very interesting because you are bilingual!

9. You can improve your trust
I doubt that there is a living person who does not want to speak another language. This is a skill that everyone would like to add to their resume. With a little study every day, you can have this skill. Then you can be very proud of your ability to communicate with a wide range of people.

Learning a language is difficult, and everyone knows it. People will automatically respect your commitment to learn and maintain your English. Your ability to help and communicate with people will help you earn respect.

People will also search for you to learn about you and your outlook on things. They will be interested in you and your life experience. They will want to know the thoughts, hopes, fears, and opinions of someone from another culture. When you feel more interesting, you will feel more special and confident!

10. you will exercise your brain
If nothing else, learning English will make you smarter and keep your brain strong.

Scientists have shown that bilinguals are able to understand concepts faster and get better results in tests. Who wouldn't want that?

So, be smarter, more confident and helpful, get a job and date more.

Sounds good, doesn't it?

English is the key that opens up a world of possibilities.
